Throne of Weapons

This work of art stands for a lot. The artist Goncalo Armando Mabunda is from Mozambique. There he grew in the midst of a brutal civil war. Because of that he decided to build a work of art that consists of weapons like pistols, cartridges, grenades, rocket launchers and kalashnikovs. As a result a throne was developed. It should raise awareness of the brutality of wars and warn from that. A throne is a symbol of power and African culture.

Another main motive of this work of art and the African culture are the masks that the throne consists of. They should banish evil monsters. In this case the monsters of the war. The throne should also be a symbol of liberation because Mozambique freed itself from their colonial rulers of the Portuguese. Now let's move on to another tree work.
